Historical Dudes of America by DennisBudd Historical Dudes of America by DennisBudd
Sketch Cards for The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation's Treasure Chests of Art 2010.

Contact Paul at cecexpo@gmail.com if you'd like to jump aboard.

Top row:

Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson

Bottom:

John Adams, James Monroe, James Madison, Andrew Jackson, Samuel Clemens

Rendered in watercolor and watercolor pencils. First time I've used watercolor since school, and then I think it was only once or twice, so they didn't turn out too bad.

This is really awesome, and quite realistic- I could tell who all of them were without reading the signatures (although the title might have helped me there). I also, and this is a bit alarming, could recognize all the portraits you based the pictures off of, 'cause I'm a gigantic history nerd. Although I have to say I didn't recognize Clemens there...

You couldn't recognize Mark Twain? That face and mustache!

Thanks

The Clemens photo was one I was unfamiliar with. I found it more interesting than some of the regular portraits we're used to seeing.

The title sounds like something out of a "Bill and Ted" movie. Excellent!

Real nifty illustrations too. It's been a year since I've last dabbled in watercolors, though that has more to do with the distance between me and the supply store.

Seeing these results I'd be interesting in trying out some watercolor pencils. Thanks for the heads up.
